Alan Carr Biography

Alan Carr was born June 14, 1976 in Weymouth, Dorset. He grew up with his father Graham Carr who used to manage Northampton Town Football Club. After a pattern of failed jobs in Northampton, Carr moved to Manchester with the aspiration of becoming a comedian. He now lives In North London. Carr graduated with a 2.1 from Middlesex University with a degree in BA Drama and Theater.

He is currently working on "The Sunday Night Project and Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong". He makes several regular appearances on Richard & Judy , Law of the Playground, Today With Des And Mel, The Graham Norton Show, GMTV, 8 out of 1 Cats , T4, Pride of Britain Awards, Never Mind The Buzzcock, FAQ U, Later With Jools Holland, Countdown's and Cooaklong Live. He has also made appearances on Channel 4's big Fat Anniversary Quiz, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and Tubridy Tonight, Where he was interviewed. Alan Carr is also due to make an appearance in a Celebrity Apprentice Special for Comic Relief with Sir Alan Sugar.

 

Alan Carr performs stand up comedy on a weekly basis and he toured the UK, and released a DVD titled "Tooth Fairy Live" in 2008. Soon after, he released The Friday Night Project Unleashed and Alan Carr, Now That's What I Call A Ding Dong. He has his own comedy night in Manchester comedy club, which he performs at Monthly. He is also a regular at The Apollo Theatre in London.

He has made appearances at a number of festivals, such as the Reading and Leeds Festivals, Latitude Festivals, Live earth, an Appearance on the Montreal Just for laughs Festival, and The Kilkenny Comedy Festival.

Alan Carr has also recently released his autobiography in hardback, entitled "Look Who It Is!" which was published by the Harper Collins in December 2008.

In 2006 Carr along side the entertainer Lionel Blair, saved a man from committing suicide. The man was going to jump off the Blackpool Pier, when Lionel saw him hanging from the pier. Carr and Blair were filming a program when they saw him, and without hesitation, attended to the man. Convincing him to reconsider his reason's for living and finally got him to safety.
